Cemetery cake


The cemetery cake is one of my favorite sweets for Halloween, both for its simplicity and for the scenic impact it has on the children.


  • 125 gr of butter
  • 120 gr of sifted 00 flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 gr of dark chocolate
  • a pinch of salt
  • 120 gr of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 sachet of vanilla

Chop the chocolate and let it melt in a bain-marie. When it’s melted add the butter and mix until it melts. While letting the chocolate mixture cool in a bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar and add the salt. As soon as the chocolate has cooled, add to the “cream”, then add the flour, the baking powder and the vanilla. Mix everything and let the flour absorb well. Grease and flour a rectangle pan and pour in the dough, leveling it well. Bake in a ventilated oven at 180°C for 15 minutes. As soon as the cake is ready, let it cool and then cut into squares. Now we are ready to set up the cemetery, by overlapping the pieces in an irregular way to give the idea of broken pavement. Take a bar of white chocolate to create the headstones and decorate as you wish. 😋
